Fahrens Park Clean- Up Clean Up

Hello Bobcats!

Welcome back to campus! We are kicking off September with a park clean up at Fahrens Park (945 Buena Vista Dr, Merced, CA 953481). It is happening September 28 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM. If you like helping making your community cleaner or if you're even looking for new experiences, we would love to have you! A short lunch will be provided at 11 AM - Noon!

No transportation is provided for this event.

Please bring closed- toe shoes, water, sunblock, and an upbeat attitude! Materials for the clean up, such as trash grabbers, bags, and gloves will be provided.

This event is CatLife and CollegeCorps eligible.

Past Clean-Ups

Joe Herb Park Clean-Up

Welcome back to campus! We are kicking off September with a park clean up at Joe Herb Park (274 Parsons Ave, Merced, CA 95341). It is happening September 14 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. If you like helping making your community cleaner or if you're even looking for new experiences, we would love to have you! 

We offer limited transportation that is offered on a first come first serve basis. The first twelve people that opt in for transportation from the CEC will be provided a ride to the park clean up. All available transportation has already been taken.  

Please bring closed- toe shoes, water, sunblock, and an upbeat attitude! We will provide materials for the clean up, such as trash grabbers, bags, and gloves.

Joe Herb Park Clean-Up

Join us to clean up Joe Herb Park (274 Parsons Ave) on Saturday, May 6 from 9AM-11AM! No registration required, so please feel free to join us there. 

Springing Into Service (Earth Day Clean-Up)

Looking for an Earth Day service event? In collaboration with the Bright Success Center, the Community Engagement Center invites UC Merced students, staff and faculty to plant trees and beautify Lake Yosemite in honor of Earth Day. This volunteer opportunity will qualify for CatLife and CollegeCorps direct service hours. Some of the responsibilities for the volunteers will include picking up litter and planting trees.

Details of the event:

This event will take place on Friday, April 21st from 9am - 1pm at Yosemite Lake. There will be 3 shifts available that you can choose from: 

  • 9 - 11 AM 

  • 11 AM - 1 PM 

  • All Day: 9 AM - 1PM

Love on Planada

Saturday, March 25th, 9AM-3PM

In honor of the Statewide Clean California Day, join us in showing some love to our neighbors in Planada by helping with a community cleanup! Please complete the registration below to reserve your spot.  

  • We will not be providing transportation for this event. If you sign up, please ensure that you are able to transport yourself to Planada. 
  • We have two shifts available: 9AM-12PM or 12PM-3PM. Please feel free to sign up for either one or both shifts. 
  • Please make sure to meet at the time you signed up at Houlihan Park at 9167 Stanford Ave, Planada, CA 95365.

McNamara Park Clean-Up

Saturday, March 11th, 9AM-12PM

Join us to help clean up McNamara Park alongside Mayor Matthew Serratto. This event will take place on Saturday, March 11th from 9 AM to Noon. Please complete the registration below to reserve your spot.   

  • If you select needing transportation - the bus will leave campus at 8:40 AM from the University Transportation Center (UTC) bus stop, so make sure to arrive by 8:30 AM to get checked in on time. Please note that there are limited seats on the bus so transportation is not guaranteed until you receive a confirmation email from us.
  • If you will provide your OWN transportation, please meet us by the basketball courts in the park.

National Wetlands Day Clean-Up

On Thursday, February 2nd, in honor of National Wetlands Day, UC Merced Natural Reserve will be posting a clean-up of the Merced Vernal Pools and Grassland Reserve (MVPGR) and the Merced County Preserve (MCP). 

WHEN: Thursday, February 2nd, 2-5PM
WHERE: Meet at the Merced Vernal Pools and Grassland Reserve (MVPGR) main gate, located on the corner of Ansel Adams and Rancher’s Roads, near SSB at 2PM sharp.

UC Merced Natural Reserve System staff will give an introduction to the importance of wetlands, stewardship, and the Reserve, and participants will engage community service via trash clean-up on both the MCP and the MVPGR. The event is scheduled from 2-5PM, and is limited to 20 participants due to limited supplies. This event is eligible for 3 CatLife hours. 

Applegate Park Cleanup

Greetings Bobcats, are you looking to participate in a community service project before the end of the semester?

We invite you to participate in the Applegate Park Cleanup alongside our Mayor Matthew Serratto and other wonderful community organizations. For this event, we will be cleaning Applegate Park & identified downtown alleys. This event will take place on Saturday, December 10 from 8 AM to Noon. (Lunch will be served 11 AM - Noon). 

Location: Meet near Applegate Park Zoo Rossotti Center [25TH & R Street]
Time: 8AM - Lunch at 11AM

Transportation will be very limited so we encourage you to sign up quickly! 

McConnel State Park Clean Up

Saturday, November 19th, 9AM-12PM

Clean Up & Restoration: In-Person Registration & Deposit Required

Limited spots are available! In-person sign-ups start on Friday, November 4th at the Community Engagement Center (KL 190) at 9AM until spots are filled. A $10 deposit is required to register to hold your spot as transportation is provided. Your deposit will be given back the day of the event.

Bobcats Give Back: Day of Service

Join local alumni, fellow students, staff, faculty and friends as we come together to make a difference through community service. In celebration of Student Philanthropy Month, Bobcats will be giving back their time at Yosemite Lake, in partnership with UC Merced's Community Engagement Center!

Team Up Merced: Community Park Clean Up Day

October 9th, 2021, 8AM - 11:30AM

In partnership with the City of Merced, Merced County, and UC Merced, the Community Engagement Center is proud to present the Fahrens Park Clean-Up. Join us on Saturday, October 9th, 8am-11:30am at Meadows & Loughborough to help clean up our Merced community! 

At this time, registration is now closed since our transportation is now full and no more shirts are available. If you would still like to volunteer on your own, please meet us at 7:50 AM on the corner of Meadows and Loughborough. Please make sure to bring close toed shoes and wear clothing that you are okay getting dirty and paint on.
