  • Read and Succeed: Merced County Library

     

    Read and Succeed empowers adults and families in Merced County to achieve their literacy goals through personalized tutoring, accessible resources, and supportive learning environments. We are committed to fostering lifelong learning, strengthening essential reading and communication skills, and building confidence that leads to greater opportunities for education, employment, and community engagement.

    The program helps adults improve reading, writing, English literacy, and computer use, while also supporting goals like earning a GED, studying for a driver's license, finding better work, and helping children succeed in school.

  • Compassionate Care Hospice

     

    Compassionate Care Hospice is dedicated to providing patient-centered, end-of-life care that honors dignity, comfort, and quality of life. Our interdisciplinary team supports not only the physical needs of our patients, but also their emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

    Volunteers can provide companionship through friendly visits, conversation, reading, or simply being present with patients. Office volunteer roles include assisting social workers, the intake team, and administrative staff, all of which provide valuable skills, experience, and exposure to the hospice care process and interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Merced Parks and Community Services

     

    The mission of the Parks and Community Services Department is to plan, facilitate, promote, maintain, and develop activities and facilities that enhance the quality of life in Merced.

    The department provides opportunities for the Merced community by hosting programs, volunteer opportunities, and events for youth, adults, and seniors at the many parks and green areas located in Merced. These range from sport leagues and special events to movies in the park and zoo experiences for all ages.
