Read to Me is an initiative that pairs UC Merced students with local schools to help improve literacy rates. In support of the County-wide emphasis on literacy improvement, Read to Me partners UCM students through MCOE with local schools to read aloud to Kindergarten through sixth grade students. Following a short, mandatory training session held on campus, students will participate in weekly classroom reading sessions for about 15-30 minutes (per classroom) throughout the semester.
Time Commitment:
Read to Me requests that after completing training, student readers participate in one hour sessions per week (approx. 8-10 hours).
Transportation and ongoing support provided.
