MUST BE AVAILABLE SATURDAYS, 4-6PM
The semester-long Environmental Literacy experience will engage students in the instruction and application of environmental literacy concepts, practices, and activities for school-age children and their parents. Following 2 four hour blocks of orientation, students will partner with local schools, parks, and environmental refuges to lead educational workshops and activities for children and families. UC Merced students will participate in a mandatory 5-hour orientation in planning, preparing, and sharing/presenting the "Growing Up WILD" curriculum and activities for elementary age children. Growing Up WILD Curriculum supports Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
The Environmental Literacy Experience will meet the requirements of Badge #11, Leadership, Community, and Engaging the world, and GE PLO 5.
