On Saturday, September 21, 2022 UC Merced students partnered up with Yosemite National Park to help preserve and beautify our nearest national park. UC Merced students were tasked to help remove conifers from El Capitan Meadow in an effort to help protect the important wetland ecosystem from the warming and drying impacts of climate change. Removing conifers before they establish helps to increase water availability and protect the meadow. Clubs and organizations represented at the event were: Yosemite Leadership Program, Fraternity Sorority Council, Leadership and Service Living Learning Community, CollegeCrops at UC Merced, Public Health Society, and many more!
A total of 47 UC Merced students were able to attend the event and accumulated a total of 147 service Hours!
The CEC is thankful for the opportunity to give back to our neighborly parks!
