AVID is a program where college students are able to visit high school students and serve as tutors and mentors for high school students who are interested in attending college. Using your college experience to help them down the right path and motivate them to strive to be the best they can be while assisting in questions they may have about their classes or the college experience. Working closely with their teachers and the students themselves creating the scaffolding for college and career readiness and success.
Golden Valley High School is looking for new AVID Tutors this year who can commit for approximately 9-10 hours weekly from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM and they will be compensated with a living stipend for their time commitment. Give back to the local Merced community while leaving a lasting impact on the youth of Merced shaping the leaders of tomorrow!
Any students who are interested must come to one of our info sessions on September 6, 4:30 PM-5:30 PM at GRAN 155, OR September 7 via Zoom Meeting ID: 848 5967 8348 to learn more about becoming an AVID tutor. If you're ready to become a Bobcat Leader and represent UC Merced while you serve your community register down below and we will see you at the info session Bobcats!
All AVID tutors are expected to participate the entire duration of the program or they will not receive their stipend.
