Young Engineers Academy
The Young Engineers Academy is a non-profit organization in Merced that focuses on mentoring and tutoring the youth of Merced in Engineering and Science. They are committed to closing the academic gap for these students molding the future generations and leaving an impact on the journeys of the students and inspiring students to persue their interest in STEM!
2024 Fall Semester
The Fall Semester will take place Monday from 12:30 PM - 3 PM and Tuesday/Wednesday from 5:30 PM - 8 PM at the Kids Discovery Center! This program is hosted by the Kids Discovery Station and is offered to all local youth. They are looking for the following volunteers:
Volunteers will be assisting the program coordinators with the hands on science experiemtns and classroom management while students are participating in lessons. Tutor mentors will work closely with students, serve as mentors, and help guide/support the students. Volunteers are also expected to attend at least 3 months with as few abscenses as possible

Step Up Tutoring
Step Up Tutoring is looking for volunteers to tutor and mentor 3rd - 6th graders via Zoom. The time commitment is around 2-3 hours per week to help support your students' academic growth, foster a relationship, and make them smile. Read & Succeed
Read & Succeed by the Merced County Library is a literacy program providing individual tutoring services that is learner-centered and goal-oriented. The Read and Succeed program is a great opportunity to share your expertise, or to build a professional experience that will boost your resume. Commitment for this program is about 3-4 hours per week. No experience necessary, and training is free. CovEd
CovEducation (or CovEd) is an educational non-profit founded by Harvard and MIT students that provides free tutoring and mentorship to K-12 students from low-income communities or underrepresented backgrounds. They are a warm, volunteer-based community of over 6,000 volunteers from 450+ institutions, and have served 5,700+ mentees since March 2020.
They are currently seeking undergraduate/postgraduate/grad students to volunteer virtually as mentors for K-12 students, particularly those with limited access to educational resources. If you’d like to volunteer, please consider signing up by visiting their website: https://www.coved.org/register.
