What is HPEC?

Harvest Park Education Center (HPEC) is a non-profit organization in Merced which focuses on mentoring and tutoring the youth of Merced. 

2023 Summer Prep Academy

The Summer Academy will take place Monday - Thursdays from 8:30 AM - 1 PM from June 26 - August 3 (except 4th of July) at UC Merced. This program is hosted by HPEC (Harvest Park Education Center) and is offered to K -12 local youth. HPEC is looking for the following volunteers:   

  • (3) Program coordinators (PC) will be leading the classroom lessons and report directly to the HPEC program coordinator. PCs will oversee the tutor mentors and classroom aides. PCs are required to attend all 6 weeks plus the training/lesson planning on June 20 and 22 and will earn a $1,200 stipend. 
  • (3) Tutor mentors will be assisting the program coordinators with the lesson planning and classroom management. Tutor mentors are also expected to attend all 6 weeks plus the training/less planning week and will earn a $800 stipend. 
  • (4) Classroom aides will assist in walking students to the restroom, welcoming participants, taking attendance and working in small groups in the direction of the program coordinators. Aides are not required to attend the training and planning week, unless they want to be PBLT certified. They must attend the entirety of the program to receive their $400 stipend.
