Attention Bobcats!

Join the Community Engagement Center in making a difference this Earth Day! By participating in community service events, you can directly contribute to a healthier planet, promote environmental stewardship, and inspire collective action. These events offer hands-on opportunities to engage with local communities, learn about pressing environmental issues, and create a lasting impact—all while fostering sustainability for future generations!

  • Bear Creek Yacht Club: Earth Day Clean Up

    Join us for the 2nd Creek Cleanup of the Year and help restore a local waterway! This area is often impacted by debris and needs strong community support. Come ready to make a difference and contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment.

  • Native Lily Salvage: 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM

    The UC Merced Vernal Pools and Grassland Reserve (MVPGR) will be hosting another Stewardship Day event on Thursday morning, April 17th at the MVPGR road entrance. Help us salvage and pot native lilies before road widening construction work begins. Let’s protect and save these beautiful lily flowers together!

  • Land as Pedagogy with Margo F. Souza Leadership Center: 2 PM – 3PM (non-service)

    Engage with the land through an experiential workshop hosted by the Margo F. Souza Leadership Center. Discover how landscapes shape leadership, community, and identity in this interactive Earth Month event in Granite Pass 155.

  • The Power of One with Office of the Chancellor: 7:30 PM (non-service)

    Showing film directed by Alex Valdez that focuses on an environmental conservation project in Colombia. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion with the two filmmakers, hosted by Prof. Yehuda Sharim in Lakireddy Auditorium.

  • Tree Planting at Lake Yosemite

    Join the CEC Team in making a lasting impact at Lake Yosemite! Help us plant trees and create a greener, more welcoming environment for the entire Merced community. Together, we can enhance our local landscape and promote sustainability for future Bobcats!

  • Campus Garden Earth Day Activities 9 AM – 11 AM

    Celebrate Earth Day with hands-on gardening, composting demos, and seed planting at the UC Merced Campus Garden. A great way to learn sustainable practices and enjoy the outdoors!


  • Sow it Forward: People’s Garden

    Help expand the People's Garden by planting new crops, prepping soil beds, and beautifying the space. This event promotes food justice and environmental stewardship through direct action.

  • Applegate Park Clean Up

    Help engage visitors in activities and share information about native plantings at the Zoo’s Earth Day event! Volunteers will receive guidance beforehand to confidently assist guests and answer questions.
