TIMES ARE SOMEWHAT FLEXIBLE
A semester-long experience in which students research and provide enrichment activities for habitat-based zoo animals. Enrichment interventions for habitat-based animals encourage the animals to perform natural behaviors, to be more active, and gives the animal more control over their environment, thus providing healthier happier animals for zoo patrons to observe. UC Merced students will be required to research and identify enrichment activities appropriate for a variety of the zoo's animal residents and work closely with Zoo-keepers to decide which enrichment activities best fit the needs of the animals and meet zoo capacity.
Participation in the experience will allow students to complete the Leadership, Community, and Engaging the World Badge #11 as they work with Zoo-keepers to provide quality fun and educational experiences for the community to engage with the Zoo (GE PLO 5).
